I am strong-willed and determined; I have an obsession with learning. I am curious and pensive; I am interested in theory and reason, cause and affect. I am the kid that asks the questions, I believe it’s important to question rather than to blindly accept. As designers we have the opportunity to shape the built environment and influence the lives of fellow human-beings, that is not something that I take lightly. I believe that the field of architecture has an importance not found in many other careers, and it is something that I would like to take advantage of. Throughout the past year, I have been exposed to topics regarding architecture in response to socio-economics, the growth of societies, as well as social trends. While exploring these topics, I constantly find myself studying social housing developments such as Pruitt Igoe and Cabrini Green. I believe that the exploration of these projects is crucial, for their strengths and weaknesses to be exploited. I think that the information that we would be able to gather would benefit the field immensely and therefore would also contribute to the well-being of society.
